The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolizes change and development, metamorphosis and transformation. The Early Years of a child’s life is one of change, rapid growth and development. It lays the Foundations for all future learning and development:

The dragonfly exhibits iridescence both on its wings as well as on its body. The magical property of iridescence is associated with the discovery of your own abilities. We believe it is important that children believe in themselves and in doing so are able to fulfil their own potential.

Educational quality from birth

Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. They actively reach out to interact with other people and to the world around them. However, development is not an automatic process. It depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.

This is my story

A dream come true

Sascha Smid’s dream has always been focused on children and to create the perfect environment to educate her own children. With more than 10 years of experience, the time came to make her dream come true, Dragonfly. In 2016, Sascha managed to create a second home for children, where she defends educational principles in which they base the foundation of Dragonfly in a dynamic and creative way.

Activities

Children learn through direct experience and need to be actively allowed to explore and manipulate materials from their environment.

Environment

A learning atmosphere should reflect the individual needs of each child and support a wide range of learning capabilities, and a rich, challenging and varied environment.

Social Education

The quality of experiences and relationships in the early years of life have a profound and lasting impact on how the brain develops.

Learning through play

Free play gives children freedom of choice and control over their activities. These experiences enhance self-esteem and make children independent learners.

The key to our way of Teaching

1.

The quality of the teaching staff, native and vocational teachers, who profess a love for children and for transmitting the moral dimensions of the person in order to foster the development and promotion of their autonomy, rationality and use of dialogue as an enabling mechanism in the construction of principles and norms, in a cognitive and behavioral way.

The methodological quality through the Montessori philosophy. It aims to achieve the maximum growth of the child and allows him to develop his self-confidence, security, a sense of order and social relations, creativity intelligence and imagination. It also sharpens the ability to discriminate, make judgments and increases a child’s ability to concentrate.

The quality of the environment. We offer an environment and facilities designed for young children, where he or she can become a member of a community, guided by a team of professionals, along with their family, where they can enjoy different experiences that provide a foundation for future life and learning. We foster a love for living beings, and create a thirst for knowledge about the natural world around them. Our garden encourages children to touch, feel and see plant life. Each class is created to provide a dynamic and supportive environment with a wide variety of learning experiences and opportunities to explore and research, giving them a positive self-image and a love of learning, where they can observe, ask and appreciate their world.

Teaching 100% in English. Children should have fun learning a language to develop a love for it. Speaking, music, art, sports, interpretation and play are a fun way to learn. A wide variety of role plays in various real-life scenarios will build your child’s confidence in using the English language, and make him truly bilingual.

It´s hard to say something without sounding cheesy or like a goody two shoes! However, it was very simple, the first vibe I got was a good one, from the people to the promises, everything was nice! It is also nice to see how the nursery is adapting to changes and improving the facilities since the opening.

They make sure we get a short review of how the day has been, every day when picking up Theo. We also love the creative focus at Dragonfly. Every Friday we are given the results of that weeks project. Theo also loves being able to run around in the garden, where they grow vegetables and can play with the nursery rabbits, Coco and Kiwi.

Tuvimos muchas dudas sobre la conveniencia de llevar a nuestro bebé a una guardería cuando cumplió 15 meses. Encontramos Dragonfly, nos gustó sobre todo el bajo número de alumnos por cuidadora, así como la luminosidad de centro. El Proyecto tenía buena pinta y se veía que era un proyecto con ilusión. Todas las mañanas le preguntamos a nuestro bebé que ya tiene 18 meses si quiere ir a Dragonfly, siempre responde con una sonrisa de emoción y asintiendo con la cabeza. Esa es la mejor respuesta y la prueba de que cuando está allí está feliz.
